AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- A sense of community is something that is valued by 2018 Miss Auburn candidate Bria Randal. Randal, a junior from Huntsville, Alabama majoring in Political Science, enjoys involvement on campus and likes helping people become their best selves.
“It’s really great to have a foundational group,” said Randal, “but it’s so important to branch out and to really get involved in as much as you can handle, just to get as much experience as possible.”
Randal is running on the sixth part of the Auburn Creed which states: “I believe in the human touch, which cultivates sympathy with my fellow men and mutual helpfulness and brings happiness for all.”
“That is just the line of the Creed that I feel like has applied to my life at Auburn so far,” said Randal, “because I see that human touch as being the faculty, the students and outside community.”
Randal says she sees the position of Miss Auburn as the voice of the students and knowing about the unique activities that set the University apart from others.
“I see Miss Auburn as more being the voice of the students,” said Randal, “so being the person that is most understanding of the diverse traditions that we have here and is innovative as well as informed.”
Randal would like to use the position, if elected, to help promote more involvement. Randal sees the position as a way to get students to “find their roots” at Auburn.
“[Miss Auburn] Is always thinking of new ways to get students more involved, to get students more a part of it and to really find their roots in Auburn,” said Randal.
Randal says that her experience moving around the nation during her childhood helps give her a new outlook and sets herself apart from the other four Miss Auburn candidates.
“Its also given me sort of a different outlook,” said Randal, “every time I go to a place, I really take the time to invest and to almost sort of study the way people treat others.”
