Auburn, Ala (EETV) - Two Auburn women were named to all-SEC Teams Tuesday.
Freshman Unique Thompson was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and Sophomore Daisa Alexander was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team.
Thompson was the top rebounder amongst freshman in the SEC pulling down an average of 8.7 rebounds per game. She totaled 225 rebounds for the season which are the most by any Auburn freshman since the 1985-1986 season. She finished the season with seven double-doubles, tying the freshman record. She also averaged 11.8 points per game which was good enough for fourth among the freshman in the conference.
Alexander finished the regular season leading the conference in steals with a total of 74 and averaging 2.6 per game. She kept her numbers up in conference play averaging 2.6 steals per game. She is the Tigers' second leading scorer with 14.1 points per game and 15.1 during SEC play.
Thompson is the 16th Auburn Tiger to be selected to the SEC All-Freshman team and Alexander is the fifth to be selected to the SEC All-Defensive Team.
Auburn is set to begin SEC Tournament play Thursday as the 10th seeded Tigers face the Seventh seeded Tennessee Volunteers with tip-off set for 6 p.m. CT at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
