Groundbreaking of New Business Building

On April 7, 2017, the Harbert College of Business unveiled its plan for a new classroom building in a groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the school’s 50th anniversary. Dean Bill Hardgrave, University President Jay Gouge, and school namesake Raymond J. Harbert all spoke at the ceremony, all hoping that the construction of this new building will continue to bring great success to Auburn. The ribbon cutting of a new student lounge in Lowder was also hosted.

The new business building will be constructed at the corner of South Donahue Drive and West Magnolia Avenue with close proximity to Lowder, with a courtyard connecting the two buildings. Lowder will continue to be an administrative building while the new building will adhere to new technology essential to education that did not exist when Lowder opened in 1992. The building is slated to have a café, auditorium, an “Innovation Lab” for projects, executive board room, adaptable classroom spaces with moveable furniture and walls, and a rooftop terrace.
