AUBURN, ALA. (EETV) - The Southern Poverty Law Center is warning students to stay away from Richard Spencer tonight.
A representative for the SPLC said in a statement, "We're asking students to stay away. There are certainly a number of alternative events students can and should attend."
Those counter-events include a concert on the Student Center green space, a protest in Foy Hall with Antifas, a town hall hosted by the SPLC in Lowder, and an event at local coffee shop Prevail Union.
The SPLC noted that "Spencer has been working really hard the last few days to intimidate Auburn students and call out antifascist groups" since his speaking engagement in Foy Hall was canceled by the university.
The SPLC will have increased security at their event in Lowder Hall. Security has been increased on campus all day.
