AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - In the wake of Hurricane Irma, Auburn University has cancelled classes all day Monday and on Tuesday morning and has also postponed several events.
A September 11th event featuring former White House cabinet member and retired U.S. Army Gen. Barry McCaffrey has been cancelled. McCaffrey was scheduled to discuss leadership and was part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the business school's founding. The Raymond J. Harbert College of Business was scheduled to host McCaffrey and is working on a date to reschedule the speech.
The author of the 2017 Auburn Common Book was scheduled to speak Tuesday evening in the Student Center Ballroom. Due to travel issues related to the storm, the university is trying to schedule Dave Eggers, who wrote "The Circle" for another day. It is not clear when the event will take place.
The Auburn Study Abroad and Involvement Fair, originally scheduled for Tuesday morning has also been postponed until further notice.
