Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Senior Jesse Earl has been named the SEC Volleyball Defensive Player of the week.
She helped lead the Tigers to a 2-0 start in SEC play. Earl averaged 6.29 digs/set to lead the conference over the weekend. Her season average improved to 4.90 digs/set which tops the stat chart across the conference.
Earl and the Tigers limited their two opponents on the road to a .137 hitting percentage over the 7 sets played.
Against Ole Miss, Earl had a match-high 26 digs, two aces and went 24-for-24 in serves receive in the 3-1 win over the Rebels.
In Athens, the Tigers swept the Georgia Bulldogs as Earl once again led both teams with 18 digs, she had one ace and finished 12-for-12 in serves receive.
The Tigers are now 9-2, which is the team’s best start since the 2013 season. T
he Tigers return to the plains for two conference match ups between the Missouri Tigers and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Missouri comes to town on Friday, September 29 as that match is set for 7 p.m. CT. The Arkansas match is set for Sunday, October 1 at 1:30 p.m. CT for the Think Pink game.
