Opelika, Ala. (EETV) - Following a recent safety inspection, the Cunningham Drive Bridge has been closed indefinitely.
The closure comes after inspectors said the bridge is no longer sufficient to safely carry public traffic.
City officials say they plan to replace the bridge with the assistance of ALDOT, but there is no schedule to do so yet.
The attached detour plan routes traffic from the Frederick Road side of the bridge to Gateway Drive to Thomason to 1st and around. There are plenty of signs to direct the traffic around the closure.
