AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Opelika launches Uber transportation between Opelika and Auburn communities.
Beginning today, travel options between the Opelika and Auburn communities expands for residents with the addition of Uber in Opelika.
Uber purchased a business license in Opelika to expand its current operating location in Auburn.
The additional transportation will give both students and the Opelika-Auburn community a safe and affordable means of traveling in addition to helping both city’s businesses.
Uber requires riders to download Uber’s mobile app to their cell phone, sign up with a valid phone number and enter a form of payment.
For new Uber riders, the app serves as a connection between driver-partners and riders. According to help.uber.com, a prospective rider will request a ride through the Uber app. When a nearby driver-partner accepts the request, the rider’s app will then display an estimated time of arrival for the driver-partner headed to your current location. The app will provide some information about the driver-partner including first name, vehicle type and license plate number.
Riding fare is calculated automatically and can be made via the rider’s desired method of payment linked with the Uber account.
