Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn backup quarterback Sean White has been dismissed from the Auburn football team.
“Sean White is no longer a part of our football program at Auburn. He has made poor decisions that are not in the best interest of our program, and more importantly, himself," said coach Gus Malzahn. "We appreciate his time at Auburn and wish him nothing but the best.”
White was arrested early Sunday morning (Sept. 17) by Auburn Police for public intoxication and was taken to the Lee County jail where he was held on $500 bond.
White won the starting quarterback job for the 2016 season and led the Tigers to an 8-5 record before breaking his arm in the Sugar Bowl against Oklahoma.
He was limited in spring practices while recovering from surgery on his broken arm, allowing Stidham to get most of the reps. Stidham would win the starting job in August before the season would begin.
White just came off a 2 game suspension for violating game rules this week and was available to play against Mercer.
