Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Most Tiger fans had their eyes glued to the SEC Network Saturday night to watch Auburn football defeat Georgia Southern.
While most fans were watching the game, Auburn soccer and Auburn volleyball competed in tournaments this weekend. Also, cross country competed in their first meet of the year.
Here's what you missed while you were watching Auburn football:
Auburn Volleyball
Volleyball traveled to Puerto Rico to play in the ACC v. SEC challenge, facing UNC and NC State over the weekend.
The Tigers first faced No. 16 UNC on Saturday night, winning 3-1.
This win marks volleyball's first upset of the season.
Senior Alexa Filley led the Auburn offense with 47 assists in their win, while senior Macy Reece notched 13 kills.
Defensively, senior Jesse Earl led the Tigers with a season-high 20 digs. The Auburn defense held the Tar Heels to a .150 hitting percentage.
The Tigers followed up their Saturday win by notching another win Sunday.
The Tigers defeated NC State 3-2 in a comeback win in their last match of the tournament.
Three Tiger's had double-digit kills in the match, sophomore Gwyn Jones (14 kills), sophomore Shaina White (12 kills) and junior Brenna McIlroy (11 kills).
Senior Alexa Filley added her fourth double-double of the season with 44 assists and 12 digs. McIlroy also picked up her second double-double of the season by adding 10 digs to her 11 kills.
Senior Jesse Earl once again led the defense with 16 digs.
Auburn improves their record to 5-1.
Auburn will return to Auburn Arena Sept. 8 for the War Eagle Invitational, hosting South Alabama and Clemson.
Auburn Soccer
Auburn soccer traveled to Durham, NC to play in the Duke Nike Classic, where they faced UNC and Duke.
The Tiger's opened their road trip Friday with a 5-0 loss to No. 9 UNC.
UNC held Auburn to 2 shots in the match, coming from Bri Folds and Alyssa Malonson.
The Tiger's went into halftime down 1-0, before UNC scored 4 unanswered goals in the second half.
Despite the loss, goalie Sarah Le Beau had a career-high 9 saves.
The Tiger's finished their road trip with a loss to Duke on Sunday.
Auburn lost to No. 13 Duke 2-0 in the final game of the Duke Nike Classic.
The Tiger's notched 5 shots with 2 shots on goal. Leading the offense for Auburn was Bri Folds and Alyssa Malonson who tallied 2 shots each.
Goalie Sarah Le Beau had another stellar performance despite the loss. Le Beau tallied 8 saves with 3 of them shots being within point-blank range in 1-on-1 situations.
The Tiger's fall to 2-3-1 for the season.
Auburn soccer will return to the Auburn Soccer Complex Friday, hosting High Point. Kickoff is set for 6:30.
Auburn Cross Country
Cross country started their season Saturday with a bang at the Golden Eagle Invitational in Cookeville, TN.
The men's team won the 6k and the women finished second in the 5k.
For the men, the senior trio of Kevin Wyss, Wesley Curles, and Coleman Chruitch led the Tiger's finishing 2-3-4.
For the women, sophomore Presley Weems finished 8th with freshman Emily Mills finishing right behind in 9th.
Cross country is set to compete in the Pre-SEC Cross Country Event Saturday in Athens, GA.
