San Antonio, Texas (EETV) – Senior Kelli Murphy earned her first top-10 finish of the season to lead the Auburn women’s golf team at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational.
Murphy shot a final score of 72 to finish at 212, 4-under, for the tournament and tied for sixth place. It was her best finish of the 2017-2018 season and her third career top-10 finish.
Sophomore Elena Hualde came back two tough days to score a team-best 71 on Tuesday and climbed 12 spots up the leaderboard. She finished 1-under with two bogeys and three birdies on the final round.
Freshman Kaleigh Telfer tied for 37th at 7-over, senior Michaela Owen tied for 46th at 10-over, and freshman Mychael O’Berry tied for 54th at 13-over.
Auburn as a team finished ninth at 19-over. Arkansas took the title with a 54-hole score of 22-under. Eighteen shots behind them were TCU and Texas A&M.
Kansas State’s Connie Jaffrey was the individual medalist at 9-under.
Auburn wraps up the fall side of the 2017-18 schedule Nov. 3-5 as they head south of the border for the Battle at the Beach, taking place at Club Campestre in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
