Louisville, Ky. (EETV) – Cross country wrapped up competition at the Louisville Cross Country Classic Saturday. The men’s squad ran the 8k while the women ran the 5k.
Junior Brenda Kigen led the way for the women with a 16:55.21 to place 13th while senior Kevin Wyss clocked a 24:31.25 to finish 45th.
“I was very pleased with both the teams today at Louisville,” assistant cross country and track and field coach David Barnett said to Auburn Athletics. “Kevin Wyss and Brenda Kigen both competed at a very high level to once again lead us home. We are in a good place right now with our training and are looking forward to the Crimson Classic in two weeks.”
The men had an average time of 24:53.54 and finished 10th with 349 points. The women averaged 17:43.59 and finished 13th.
Seniors Wesley Curles (24:41.94) and Coleman Churitch (24:48.93) finished 58th and 68th respectively to finish second and third for the men.
The Tigers return to action Friday, Oct. 13, at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
