Auburn, Ala. (EETV) – Men’s golf freshman Wells Padgett tied for ninth Tuesday at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational.
The No. 6 Tigers finished fifth, with a final round score of 3-under at the Isleworth Country Club. Auburn’s final card score was even par.
Padgett was the Tiger’s top finisher for the first time in his career. His final round included four birdies.
Sophomore Jovan Rebula also put on a show Tuesday. He too had a bogey-free final round to finish one stroke behind Padgett at 2-under. He tied for 11th.
“I’m proud of the guys this week and we improved each day,” head coach Nick Clinard said to Auburn Athletics. “We head into the offseason as one of the best teams in the nation and lots of areas to improve both mentally and physically. We have a high skill level and I am already excited for the spring.”
Freshman Brandon Mancheno finished off his first fall season tied for 21st at 1-over. He finished in the top-25 in three of the four events this fall season.
Juniors Jacob Solomon finished t-31st and Trace Crowe finished 5-58th.
Illinois’ Dylan Meyer won the Invitational at 11-under.
No. 21 California won the Tavistock Invitational at 6-under.
The fall portion of the 2017-18 schedule has now concluded for Auburn. The Tigers get a long break before the spring season begins at the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, HI Feb. 1-3, 2018.
