Auburn to Host Veterans Day Ceremony

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - The City of Auburn will be hosting their 2017 Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 10, at the Auburn Veterans Memorial. Beginning at 10 a.m., officials will gather in concert with communities throughout the nation to honor those who have served our country.


Auburn Mayor Bill Ham, Jr. will officiate the ceremony honoring our nation’s heroes. The event will include an address from Col. Fred Lacy, U.S. Army, and performances by the East Samford School Choir, directed by Chris Deason.

Karson Fair, Miss Auburn University 2018, and Sara Beth Huntley, Miss Lee County Fair Outstanding Teen 2018, will assist Ham with a wreath laying, and a bagpipe performance by Dan Drummond will conclude the ceremony.

A reception will immediately follow the ceremony at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce at 714 E. Glenn Ave.

Attendees are encouraged to park at Felton Little Park at 341 E. Glenn Ave. and at the Douglas J. Watson Municipal Complex at 171 N. Ross St. Parking for the disabled will be available on Ross Street between Glenn Avenue and Harper Avenue, which will be closed to through traffic.

The Auburn Veterans Memorial is located at the corner of Glenn Avenue and Ross Street. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the City Council Chamber at 141 N. Ross St.
