Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn has agreed to a contract extension with the University, sources say.
First reported by Brandon Marcello, Malzahn reportedly agreed to a 7-year contract worth $49 million. It is estimated Malzahn will receive about $7 million per year.
Malzahn led Auburn to an SEC Championship appearance and a 10-3 record this season.
Malzahn is 45-21 while coaching at Auburn notching three bowl game appearances and an SEC conference title in 2013.
Malzahn’s most successful season was his first with Auburn in 2013. He helped lead the Tigers to a 12-2 record. The season included now famous Auburn moments such as the ‘Miracle in Jordan-Hare’ and the ‘Kick 6’.
That season he would take the Tigers to the 2014 BCS Championship Game where Auburn would go on to lose to Florida State 34-31.
