Auburn, Ala.(EETV)- Patrick Starr wants to give everyone a voice and make students feel comfortable and feel like they are really apart of the Auburn family. Starr, a Junior from Auburn, Al, currently majoring in Poultry Science Pre-Vet, says that he is very approachable in listening to students opinions and concerns about what needs to be done on campus.
“If I’m as approachable as I can be with the people I feel more people will come and the SGA will grow and be able to change effectively in the way students need it to.”
Since 2009 he has ran a petting zoo business that has come to campus for specific events such as "Hey Day." Starr has another business as well called Sleepy Haunted Farm.
"[Running these business] I feel like what I've learned from that is better than almost any business degree that I can get from anywhere. I feel like I've gained a lot of experience with dealing with people, working on big business decisions, how to better organize a business and manage the finances of that."
Moreover, he has been involved with the Student Government Association (SGA) at Auburn. He was the Assistant Director for Creed Week. He is also apart of the Poultry Science Club.
"[Being apart of] these organization I have that direct connection with the family atmosphere and being successful, I believe in knowing you are apart of something that is bigger than you."
Like stated earlier, Starr wants to promote inclusion and be more open to more opinion, and if elected he will have weekly or biweekly meetings to actively hear concerns from the students.
"If you don't have a weekly or biweekly or monthly [meeting] directly with [students] you're never going to really learn exactly what to seek for Auburn's future."
"[We need] to bring all our ideas that we have on campus and go towards a common goal.
