Auburn Ala. (EETV) - Junior pitcher Casey Mize was awarded his fifth pre-season All-American award by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Mize was named a second-team All-American by NCBWA.
In December Mize was named a preseason second-team All-American by Collegiate baseball. He has also earned first-team All-American honors from Baseball America, D1 Baseball, and Perfect Game/Rawlings.
Last season Mize led Auburn with an 8-2 record, 2.04 ERA, and 109 strikeouts despite missing three starts due to an injury. Mize's ERA was third in the SEC and 25th in the NCAA and his strikeout total was the highest from an Auburn player since 1999.
Mize became Auburn's 25th All-American in program history when he earned second-team honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association.
He also became Auburn's 8th player to compete for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team during the summer.
The Tigers will kick off the 2018 season against Longwood for a three-game series beginning Friday, Feb. 16 at Plainsman Park.
