AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn baseball defeated Georgia State Tuesday night at Plainsmen Park in exciting fashion. The Tigers were down a run with one out left, but Conor Davis and Brendan Venter stepped up to the plate.
With Will Holland and Jeremy Johnson on base, Davis hit a grounder towards first base. Georgia State's first baseman, Jack Thompson, would attempt to field the ground ball, but it would deflect off of his glove. This gave Will Holland the opportunity to make the score and tied the ball game.
Johnson advanced to second base and Venter stepped up to bat. On the second pitch, he sent a ball into right field which gave Johnson the opportunity to score and gave the Tigers the walk of win.
After the exciting win, Venter said," We just kept competing at the plate. It gave me an opportunity to come up there at the end, and it's a pretty cool feeling being able to get it done" via Auburn Athletics.
Auburn is now 4-0 on the season while Georgia State falls to 2-2 on the season. The Tigers take on the Troy Trojans Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 4 p.m.
