AUBURN, AL (EETV)- Residents of Auburn will have the opportunity to witness downtown Auburn transform into an art district on June 8. Shops and restaurants will stay open past regular business hours to participate in Downtown Auburn's annual SummerNight.
SummerNight is an arts festival that features the work of local and regional artists, street performers, food, games, live musicians, children's activities, parades and culinary artists. This year the theme for SummerNight 2018 is blue.
Organizations and businesses that plan on attending the event are encouraged to embrace all things blue and get creative. To further promote the blue theme, there will be a Blueberry Bash Culinary Contest. Culinary entries have to have blueberries incorporated into their dishes. Judges will decide whose dish is the best, and will announce the winner that night during the art walk. There is no fee to enter the contest.
The art walk is hosted by the Auburn Arts Association, City of Auburn, the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center (JDAC) and the Auburn Downtown Merchant Association.
SummerNight 2018 is for all ages, and the event is free and open to the public. The festival will be held on Friday, June 8, from 6-10 p.m.
Businesses, organizations, artists and culinary artists who are interested in participating in this year's SummerNight's Downtown Art Walk are encouraged to apply at auburnsummernight.org or can contact the SummerNight Headquarters at (334)-501-2963. Applications are due Friday May 26.
