MONTGOMERY, Ala. (EETV) -No. 9 Auburn closed out their 5-game road trip facing in-state rival Alabama Tuesday at the MAX Capital City Classic in Montgomery. The Tigers dominated on offense throughout the night, defeating the Tide 5-2.
The win marks Auburn's ninth win over Alabama in their last 10 meetings in Montgomery. Auburn's Will Holland led the offense for the Tigers, hitting two home runs on the night.
He is the first player to hit two home runs in the classic. He was also awarded Most Valuable Player.
Center fielder Jay Estes led the Tigers defensively making several plays that helped give Auburn the win.
After the win, Auburn's record goes to 21-5 on the season. They will continue SEC play at home against No. 24 Missouri this weekend.
