Auburn's path to the SEC Tournament title

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - After going 13-5 in SEC conference play, No. 16 Auburn has earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming tournament in St. Louis, Missouri.

Auburn has already claimed the SEC regular season title, its third in program history. The Tigers have only won the SEC tournament once, in 1985, but have appeared in the final two other times in 1984 and 2000.

The tournament seeding is based on where the teams finish in the SEC regular season. The SEC tournament seeding is as followed:

1. Auburn

2. Tennessee

3. Florida

4. Kentucky

5. Missouri

6. Arkansas

7. Mississippi State

8. Texas A&M

9. Alabama

10. LSU

11. South Carolina

12. Georgia

13. Vanderbilt

14. Ole Miss

Because they are the No. 1 seed, Auburn is automatically placed in the tournament quarterfinal along with No. 4 Kentucky, No. 2 Tennessee, and No. 3 Flordia.

The tournament will tip-off Wednesday at 6 p.m. with No. 12 Georgia and No. 13 Vanderbilt and will end with the championship game Sunday at noon.

The Tigers will face the winner of the Alabama-Texas A&M game Friday at noon on ESPN. Auburn has lost to both Alabama and Texas A&M this season.

If Auburn wins its quarterfinal game, they will play in the semifinal game Saturday at noon and could face No. 13 Vanderbilt, No. 12 Georgia, No. 5 Missouri, or No. 4 Kentucky.

All tournament games will be played at the Scottrade Center. This is the first year the tournament will be held in St. Louis.
