MONTGOMERY, Ala. (EETV) - The lottery is one step closer to making a new home in Alabama.
Wednesday, a Senate committee approved legislation that would allow Alabama join games such as Powerball that are available in multiple states.
The bill, sponsored Huntsville Sen. Paul Sanford, must still pass in the House and the Senate. If that were to happen, Alabama voters would decide the matter.
The bill was approved with a 3-2 vote by the Senate Tourism and Marketing Committee.
Alabama is one of only six states that does not have a lottery.
