AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Former Auburn University football player Bo Jackson donated four 2016 Honda ST1300 PAG motorcycles to the Auburn Police Division on Thursday, April 26.
Jackson first decided to donate the motorcycles two years ago during the annual charity bike ride Bo Bikes Bama. After blowing the front tire of his bicycle, two officers on motorcycles stopped to wait with him. Jackson noticed the bikes were beginning to show their age and vowed he would help get the division new motorcycles.
“The Auburn Police Division does a lot for Bo Bikes Bama, and this is my personal way of saying thank you,” Jackson said. “I have always been taught, treat people like you want to be treated. They have only been gracious to the Bo Bikes Bama Foundation.”
Two of the motorcycles were purchased with grant funds, facilitated by Jackson, through the Alabama Law Enforcement Association. Jackson also worked to ensure the motorcycles got from the production line to the Police Division as quickly as possible. With these new additions, and after retiring two existing motorcycles, the Police Division will have six motorcycles in its fleet.
“We’re honored to receive this gift, and we extend our gratitude to Bo Jackson and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency for helping equip our officers with the tools they need to respond quickly to emergencies and keep our community safe,” said Public Safety Director Bill James.
