AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn women's tennis closed out their regular season this weekend, capturing back-to-back wins over Texas A&M and LSU at home.
The Tigers faced off against Texas A&M Friday. The Aggies would take the early lead with a 2-0 win doubles matches.
Auburn would even the score in singles with senior Alize Michaud winning 6-4 6-2 over Domencia Gonzalez of Texas A&M. Macarena Olivares evened up the score with a 6-4 6-4 win over Auburn's Jaeda Daniel.
Auburn would go on to clinch the match with wins from Taylor Russo and Georgie Axon to defeat the Aggies 4-2. The win gives Auburn their nineteenth victory of the season.
Auburn would then welcome LSU Sunday to close out their regular season. Auburn started off slow losing 2-1 in doubles play. The lone victory came from Daniel and Maddie Meredith who won by a walkover.
Auburn would fall behind 2-0 as LSU's Eden Richardson defeated Daniel 6-4 6-2.
Auburn's Caroline Turner won by a walkover cutting the lead to 2-1. Meredith evened the match as she defeated LSU's Kennan Johnson 6-3 2-6 7-5. Meredith's singles record is an impressive 16-6 in her first season at Auburn.
Auburn's Russo and Axon capped off the regular season on a high note with wins to give Auburn the victory over LSU.
Auburn ends the season at 20-5 overall and 8-5 in SEC play and will travel to Knoxville, Tennessee for the SEC Tournament from April 18-23.
