Auburn, Ala. -- On May 23, 2018, Auburn Police arrested 20-year-old Auburn native, Drew Michael McCormack, on charges of rape in the first degree and sodomy in the first degree.
His arrest comes after an investigation of sexual assault that had been reported earlier in the month. The incidence allegedly occurred on May 3 at a residence on North Donahue Drive.
The 19-year-old female victim described that she and McCormack, an acquaintance, had gone out with friends and met at an establishment in downtown Auburn. The victim left the establishment with McCormack, but only to share a ride to each of their own residences. After the victim was dropped off, McCormack showed up shortly after, uninvited. He entered and forcibly sexually assaulted her.
Through the investigation launched by Auburn Police, detectives confirmed that McCormack was responsible of the alleged actions. After taken arriving to the Auburn Police Division Building to be interviewed, McCormack was taken into custody. He has since been transferred to Lee County Jail and is being held on $125,000 bond.
McCormack was found innocent as of Friday October 22, 2021.
