CHICAGO, IL (EETV) – Auburn soccer rising junior Bri Folds has been invited to the U.S. Under-19 Women’s National Team (WNT) Training Camp held at the Elite Athletic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., this week.
Folds is one of 24 players, including 22 of whom are in college, selected to the roster by head coach Keri Sarver. This marks the third time since November Folds have been invited to participate in the U.S. WNT training camp. The Lakeland, Fla., native traveled to U-20 camp in Sunrise, Fla., after a strong sophomore season and was invited to U-19 camp earlier this spring.
“We are always proud to have one of our players represent their country,” head coach Karen Hoppa said. “This camp is a great opportunity for Bri to play at the highest level, and we are excited for her.”
All players in the camp are age-eligible for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup should they prove themselves worthy of future call-ups to Jitka Klimkova’s U-20 side as they prepare for the U-20 Women’s World Cup in France in August.
Folds capped off her sophomore season with Auburn soccer tied for the team lead with six assists. She also ranked second on the team in points (14) and tied for second in goals (four). Folds scored the game-winner in the Tigers’ NCAA Tournament First Round win against Hofstra, marking the team’s fourth straight first round win, and was selected to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week.
