Auburn, Ala. -- The Auburn community is invited to celebrate Independence Day on Wednesday, July 4, at Duck Samford Park.
This family-friendly event offers food, music, free goodies and a large firework show put on by Briggs and Stratton. Gates will open at 6 p.m. with entertainment beginning at 7 p.m. Fireworks will start at 9 p.m. If it rains, the event will be rescheduled for Thursday, July 5.
Music this year will be provided by Mojiles. Mojiles is a band that hails from the Gulf Coast, but features members from all over the world. The band offers a wide variety of music, from Top 40 songs to 70's classics.
The celebration is free and will be held behind the home side of Duck Samford stadium. The parking lot off of Airport road will be closed during the event to make room for the firework show. Free parking will be available at the parking lot off of E. University Dr. next to the Old Duck fields.
On July 4, all of the City of Auburn Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed. However, the pools will remain open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Yarbrough Tennis Center will be closed to the public due to a tennis tournament.
