AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn Ward 2 City Councilman Ron Anders is the first person to qualify in the race to be Auburn's next mayor.
Anders made the announcement on Twitter writing:
"It’s official. By God”s light, my family”s love and support, and the encouragement of many, many friends and citizens I am a candidate to serve as the future Mayor of Auburn. Our best days are ahead. #LetsDoThisTOGETHER."
Anders has served on the council since 2012 when he was appointed to replace retiring Councilwoman Sheila Eckman.
If elected, Anders would succeed longtime Auburn Mayor Bill Ham who is not seeking reelection. The Auburn municipal election is scheduled for August 28.
