AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - The Auburn Tigers bounced back tonight after winning their first SEC game of the season.
Auburn beat the Arkansas Razorbacks 34-3, but offensively it was not the Tigers' best game. The Razorbacks ended the game with 290 yards, while the Tigers settled for only 225. Arkansas ended the game with a field goal, and they struggled offensively just as much as the Tigers did. With two turnovers and no luck for Ty Storey (QB, #4), the Razorbacks could not score a touchdown to keep up with Auburn. Auburn Quarterback, Jarrett Stidham passed for only 134 yards.
During Gus Malzahn's press conference tonight he stated, "We didn't play good tonight. We weren't our best offensively, but we didn't have any turnovers and that's good. Overall it's a good win. It's good to be back in the win column."
JaTarvious Whitlow had two touchdowns tonight, the first set up by a 49-yard punt return from senior Ryan Davis. Davis also caught six passes for 40 yards.
In the third quarter, Wide Receiver Noah Igbinoghene scored a touchdown from a 96-yard kick return that put the Tigers at a score of 24-3. To close out the game Whitlow scored his second touchdown of the night giving the Tigers their third win of the season. Auburn defeated Arkansas 34-3.
No.9 Auburn will take on Southern Mississippi for their homecoming at 3 p.m. CT next Saturday, and Arkansas will take on Texas A&M at 11 a.m. CT.
