Auburn, Ala. (EETV)- The Auburn University Soccer team jumped to No. 10 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and No. 17 in the Top Drawer soccer poll this week. The Tigers are in the top 10 for the first time since starting the 2017 season in the same position.
According to George Nunnelley, the Assistant Director of Communications, this jump in the ranking occurred after their big road wins against Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State. The team earned two shutout wins, one being Long Beach State’s first home loss of the season.
Auburn is the third highest ranked team in the SEC and the second highest in the Southeast Region. The team ranks first in the country with 24 assists and a whopping 62 points.
The Tigers are also one of three teams in the SEC and one of four teams in the country that are 6-0-0. Auburn is 6-0-0 for the first time since 2015 and just the third time in program history. Just 6 games into the season Auburn has outscored their opponents 19-2 and has had four shutouts this season.
The Tigers hope to keep the winning streak alive as they host Cincinnati (3-2-0) on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
