AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- The Auburn University Student Government Association presented a commendation honoring outgoing Auburn Mayor Bill Ham at Tuesday's council meeting.
Sponsored by Harbert College of Business Sen. Mary Margaret Turton, the commendation praised Ham's time as the city's leader.
The commendation mentioned Ham's work with the university on several initiatives including the research park, regional airport and the merging of the city and university police forces.
At Monday's Senate meeting, Turton specifically discussed Ham's role in the growth of opportunities seen in the city for students.
Auburn University Executive Director of City/Community Relations, Special Events and Estate Operations Jon Thompson is set to recognize Ham at the council meeting on October 16.
Community resident David Hill and Auburn Councilman Ron Anders are currently in a runoff to succeed Ham.
