AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn and Alabama faced off Thursday night with a trip to the SEC Tournament on the line. Auburn seniors Ashton Brock, Sara La Beau, Gianna Montini, and Taylor Troutman looked to get their final win in front of the home crowd at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
Auburn would get off to a fast start as Gianna Montini scored in the 11th minute to give Auburn a 1-0 lead at halftime. Auburn held the lead until Alabama's Gabby Duca evened the score in the 83rd minute. Sixty seconds later, Alabama would concede a penalty kick on a rought tackle in the box. Bri Folds would convert the penalty kick to give Auburn a 2-1 win over thier bitter rival.
With the win, Auburn has now won six straight over Alabama and 11 out of thier last 12 matchups. Auburn ends the regular season 12-5-1(4-5-1 in SEC) and will make thier 18th straight appearance in the SEC Tounament against Florida in the first round.
