According to a statement released by the university, Richard Pouyat, former White House science and technology and advisor and current president of the Ecological Society of America will be speaking at Auburn on Oct. 17.
Auburn’s Weaver Lecture Series will present Pouyat, whose lecture will focus on important ant roles scientific information and the scientific community can play in the policy development process.
Pouyat received his doctorate from Rutgers University and has served as an original co-principal investigator of the Baltimore Ecosystem Study, research which is funded by the National Science Foundation.
“Dr. Pouyat’s breadth of experience enables him to provide an informed perspective regarding the conflicts and balance between science and politics at the national level,” said Janaki Alavalapati, dean of the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences.
The lecture will be held in the conference hall on the first floor of the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences building.
