Lahaina, HI (EETV)- Auburn basketball made their first apperance in the Maui Invatational against the Xavier Muskateers in the first game of day 1.
In the first half, both offenses could not gain any momentum as their were 4 lead changes in the first 7 minutes of the game.
Auburn would find their rythm as they would stretch the lead to 10 with help from Byrce Brown who posted 13 points in the first half. Xavier would cut the lead to 33-28 with an 8-1 run going into halftime.
In the second half, Auburn's Jared Harper would light it up dropping 17 of his 25 points in the second half alone as Auburn held a five point lead with a minute left.
Xavier came from behind and tied the game late at 77 with only 26 seconds to play. Auburn had a chance to win it but Bryce Brown missed a three point shot sending the game into overtime.
In overtime the Tigers were able to prevail over the Musketeers 88-79 as they were able to hit some crucial free throws down the stretch.
Auburn's leading scorer was Bryce Brown who had 26 points. Jared Harper had 25 points and Chuma Okeke added 13 for the Tigers. Auburn had 31 points off turnovers and outscored the Musketeers 12-2 in overtime.
Auburn remains undefeated and will play the number one Duke Blue Devils in the semifinal. The semifinal is scheduled for 7 PM (CT) and can be seen on ESPN.
