Atlanta, Ga (EETV)- After defeating the top ranked Duke Blue Devils on Tuesday, Auburn faced Alabama in the finals of the East Lake Cup. The Tigers looked to win their second straight match over the Tide since the SEC Championship this past summer.
Auburn's Trace Crowe and Jacob Solomon helped Auburn get out to a 2-0 lead as they both won their matches. Alabama would get on the board, but Auburn's Wells Padget and Brandon Mancheno would clinch the match for the Tigers.
The win was Auburn's second straight top 5 win in two days and their first East Lake Trophy in school history. Coach Nick Clinard spoke afterward saying, "There's a lot of grit in this group, They are very resilant and have worked hard a fall. We played a lot all fall, but these guys came together as a team in this event and played well."
Auburn will be on break until the spring season when they travel to Hawaii to play in the Amer Ari Invitational in February.
