AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- The man convicted of killing an Auburn University freshman back in 2008 will be appearing in a Lee County court Monday.
According to Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones, Courtney Lockhardt will be in court Monday morning in regards to post conviction issues his attorneys will be presenting.
Lockhardt was convicted of the 2008 murder of Auburn University freshman Lauren Burk. Burk was kidnaped at gunpoint on Auburn's campus the night of March 4. Burk's murder drew national attention at the time.
Following her death, university officials established the Lauren Ashley Burk Memorial Scholarship.
Lockhardt was sentenced in 2011 to the death penalty by Lee County Judge Jacob Walker and is awaiting execution at Holman Prison.
