AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- A man was arrested at the Auburn Student Center at approximately 10:25am Thursday morning.
According to Auburn Police Division spokesperson Lorenza Dorsey, an Auburn police officer on routine patrol attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle on Mell Street near Spidle Hall on the AU campus.
The vehicle stopped after a brief pursuit, the driver, a 25 year old male from Macon County attempted to flee on foot. He was contacted by officers, resisted arrest, resulting in a Taser being deployed.
The suspect was then taken into custody near Haley Center and placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant, as well as charges of attempting to elude police, resisting arrest and reckless endangerment.
A female passenger in the vehicle from Tuskegee remained in the vehicle and was arrested on an unrelated warrant. An APD officer suffered a minor injury to his leg and was treated on the scene by AFD paramedics.
According to eyewitnesses, the man was chased by police into bushes near the building where he was held at gunpoint and handcuffed.
