AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- January marks the first month of new water charges for Auburn residents.
The Auburn Water Works Board approved a rate increase on On Oct. 18 for water services. For most residential customers (¾” meters), the change is as follows:

| First 3K gals | $4.86 | $5.25 | $0.39 |
| Over 3K gals | $3.86 | $4.17 | $0.31 |
The average residential water usage is 5,000 gallons per month. The charge for water on the average bill will increase from $22.30 to $24.09, an increase of $1.79.
