AUBURN, Ala. -- Daniel Calhoun is one of three Auburn students running for Student Government Association (SGA) president this election season.
Calhoun currently serves Auburn's SGA as the President-Pro Tempore of the student senate. He also serves as a senator for the Harbert College of Business. Calhoun also had the opportunity to work as a congressional intern for the U.S. House of Representative over the summer of 2018.
Calhoun has been involved on Auburn's campus since his freshman year. Some of his campus involvement includes the Big Event, Beat Bama Food Drive, student recruiting and participating as a top-five member of two past campus campaigns.
With both his parents having attended Auburn, Calhoun has been a part of the Auburn family for his entire life.
"I believe the idea of the Auburn family is the most important facet of this university," said Calhoun. "If elected president, I would strive to help students of all backgrounds and ethnicities feel like they are valuable assets to the Auburn family."
The main focuses of Calhoun's platform are creating better inclusion and diversity on campus, creating a balanced and equitable student body for all students; making it easier for students to get around campus; and to create more collaboration inside and outside of SGA.
"I want to run for SGA President, because I want to maintain and improve the idea of the Auburn family for students of all backgrounds," said Calhoun.
Calhoun grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. He is currently a junior at Auburn and is double majoring in Marketing and Spanish-International Trade.
