Gulf Shores, AL (EETV)- Auburn softball opened the 2019 season this weekend at the Sand Dollar Classic in Gulf Shores. The Tigers went 3-2 on the the weekend with wins over Tennessee St, Western Kentucky, and Florida A&M.
On Friday Auburn defeated Tennessee State 11-4 with a big offensive performance from Kendall Veach. Veach went 4 for 4 with a home run. The Tigers defeated Western Kentucky 8-0 in the second game of the day as Makayla Martin allowed only two hits. Alyssa Rivera and Kasey McCrackin both hit home runs to end the game in five innings.
On Saturday the Tigers dropped two games to Missouri State and Louisiana Tech. Despite solid pitching performances from Ashlee Swindle and Makayla Martin, the Tigers were unable to produce offensively.
Auburn bounced back Sunday against Florida A&M with a 10-2 victory over Florida A&M. Kasey McCrackin, Tannon Snow, and Justus Perry all went deep in the game.
Chardonnay Harris went a career long five innings with six strikeouts to earn her first win in her career.
Auburn will return home to Jane B. Moore Field on Thursday at 6 P.M to face the UAB Blazers.
