Auburn, AL (EETV)- The Auburn Tigers completed a two-game sweep against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 20-3 in their series sweep, scoring 10 runs each game.
Freshman pitcher Brooks Fuller started the game, giving up two hits and two unearned runs through three innings, but it was freshman left-hander Garrett Wade that secured the Tigers' win. Wade took the mound in the top of the fourth, only giving up three hits and no runs. The Tiger pitchers held the Bulldogs to just two runs, but it was Auburn's offense that dominated the game.
Infielder Rankin Woley's RBI double scored sophomore Judd Ward after his leadoff walk in the bottom of the first. The Bulldogs pitching change in the bottom of the second did not help their case, as the Tigers put three more runs on the board.
An RBI single off the bat of Matt Scheffler scored freshman Ryan Bliss from second. Ward hit a sacrifice fly to score the inning's second run and Scheffler scored on an error by the Bulldogs' catcher.
Sophomore Edouard Julien crossed the plate not one, but three times in the late innings as he hit a solo home run in the fifth and a two run homer to left center in the bottom of the eighth. Julien's other run came from freshman Kason Howell's RBI single in the seventh. Howell scored on a wild pitch during the next at bat.
Ward finished off his night with a solo home run in the eighth right before Julien's second homer of the night. RHP Ryan Watson closed out the game as the Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 10-2.
The Tigers look to keep their bats hot as they hit the road for a three-game series at the University of Central Florida starting Friday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m.
