Salt Lake City, UT (EETV)- After a close call in their first round win, the Auburn Tigers made a statement with a 89-75 win over the Kansas Jayhawks.
The first half was all Auburn as they knocked down 9 three point shots. Bryce Brown led the Tigers with 17 points and Jared Harper added 14.
Turnovers were a factor as Auburn forced 15 in the game. in Auburn used their prolific transition game scoring 26 points on the fast break to help them take an impressive 51-25 lead into halftime.
The Tigers kept the momentum going as Brown continued his hot shooting going 7-11 from three point range. Kansas was unable to grab any momentum as they fell by a final of 89-75.
Leading scorers for Auburn were Bryce Brown with 25 points and Jared Harper with 18. Every player except Danjel Purifoy scored in the game. Kansas was led by Dedric Lawson who scored 25 points and Quentin Grimes added 15.
Auburn is now 17-2 when scoring over 80 points in a game. The Tigers shot over 12 three pointers for the sixteenth time this year making 13 of 30.
Auburn advances to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2003. They will face the winner of North Carolina and Washington next Friday.
