AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn Police have made an arrest in connection with a Monday robbery.
Police arrested two 16 year old males from Opelika, charging them each with first degree robbery.
At about 2:00 a.m. police responded to a robbery call at a convenience store in the 800 block of E. Glenn Avenue. Two armed males allegedly entered the business, confronted the clerk and demanded money. The suspects fled on foot moments later with an undisclosed amount of cash and a cell phone. The clerk sustained minor injuries during the incident and was treated at the East Alabama Medical Center and later released.
A responding officer observed a vehicle fleeing the area occupied with two male passengers that matched the physical descriptions of the suspects. A traffic stop was conducted in the vicinity and the occupants were detained.
Following an investigation police identified the passengers as being the individuals responsible for committing the robbery. They were both taken into custody and charged with first degree robbery.
The suspects remain in custody in the Lee County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
