Auburn, AL (EETV)- Auburn's notched their 20th win of the season defeating Mississippi State 80-75. But it wasn't easy.
Auburn started the game off very well as they took an 11 point lead. Bryce Brown and Anfernee McLemore led the team with eight points each to give Auburn a 33-25 advantage at halftime.
Auburn extended their lead to 19, but Mississippi State showed their quality as took a 17-2 run to get within four points of the lead.
The Tigers answered as Bryce Brown knocked down a corner three to take the lead back to seven. Jared Harper added another layup as the Tigers would go on to win their ninth SEC game of the season.
Leading scorers for Auburn were Bryce Brown with 24 points and Anfernee Mclemore with 14. Jared Harper led the team with 9 total assists and 10 points.
The efforts of Quindary Weatherspoon and Tyson Carter should not go unnoticed. Weatherspoon dropped 25 points and Carter added 21.
Auburn's record improves to 20-9 on year and 9-7 in the SEC. The Tigers will travel to Tuscaloosa on Tuesday night to face Alabama for the second time this season.
