SALEM, Ala. (EETV)- A Lee County man died in a fire early Friday morning according to Coroner Bill Harris.
Firefighters found 66-year-old Woodrow Turner, in a back bedroom of his residence. Turner lived alone. Lee County Coroner Bill Harris pronounced Turner dead at the scene.
It is believed that Turner died from smoke and heat inhalation before the fire reached the bedroom he was found in. His body has been taken to the medical examiner’s office of the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an examination.
The case remains under investigation by the Lee County Coroner, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, State Fire Marshall’s office and the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences.
