Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - In a defensive second game of the SEC series, the No. 19 Auburn Tigers beat the No. 7 Florida Gators in extra innings with a final score of 2-1. After losing 0-7 last night in a no-hit game, the series is now tied up 1-1.
In the first inning, Chardonnay Harris started pitching for the Tigers. Elizabeth Hightower was the starting pitcher for the Gators. Both players ended the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth innings with zero runs and zero hits.
Even though the second inning ended with three runners on base for Auburn, none of them were able to make it home, and the score remained 0-0 until after the fifth inning.
In the top of the sixth, Amanda Lorenz singled to get on base, then made it to second after a single from Kendyl Lindaman. When Jaimie Hoover singled and advanced to second on the throw, Lorenz ran home and scored, putting the Gators up 1-0 and giving them their first lead of the game.
