AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - An Auburn University professor has been arrested on child pornography warrants, according to the Auburn Police Division.
William Matthew Carter, 52, was arrested by the Blacksburg, Virginia Police Department on Friday, May 10. Auburn police then searched Carter's Auburn residence and found multiple electornic devices containing images of child pornography. Several of the images were confirmed to be those of children not from the Auburn area.
Auburn University confirms that Carter was a lecturer in the English department of the College of Liberal Arts. His employment ended on May 10, the same day as the arrest.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible as Auburn Police are working to have Carter extradited back to Alabama.
Carter will be elgible for a $50,000 bond once in custody in Lee County.
