AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn Police Division officers were met with gun fire when they responded to a domestic disturbance at about 10:10 p.m. Sunday night.
The residence was located in the 3000 block of Wire Road, approximately five miles west of the Vet School.
The suspect was later identified as 29-year-old Grady Wayne Wilkes of Daleville, Alabama. Wilkes fled the scene, but police reported him to be in custody at 7:52 a.m. Monday morning.
Wilkes was arrested at 7:12 a.m. Monday morning in the 900 block of Lee Road 9. He faces charges of capital murder, three counts of attempted murder and domestic violence in the second degree.
District Attorney Brandon Hughes said at a press conference earlier today that Wilkes is not entitled to a bond and will appear before a judge within the next few days. Hughes said the district attorney's office will pursue the death penalty.
Responding officers were injured and transported to hospitals. A full press conference and more information about their conditions can be found here.
