AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Just under 40 hours since Auburn University announced that President Leath was leaving the position, the Auburn Board of Trustees Executive Committee has recommended an interim president.
Former Auburn President Jay Gogue will next be considered by the entire Board of Trustees on July 8 before being appointed. He will remain in place while the university works to begin a national search for a new president.
The board also announced that Lt. Gen. Ron Burgess is appointed Executive Vice President of the university. He will oversee the business and administrative affairs of the university until Gogue is appointed by the entire Board of Trustees.
Gogue previously served as president for the university from 2007 to 2017. He graduated from Auburn University with both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree. He received a PhD in horticulture from Michigan State University.
