Auburn, AL(EETV)-History was made tonight as the Auburn Soccer team won their 5th consecutive SEC home opener with a 1-0 victory over Tennessee.
The lone score of the game came from Kori Locksley late in the first half. His first ever career goal was assisted by teammates, Alyssa Malonson and Rocio Sanders.
The Volunteers outshot the Tigers (12-7) including the corner shots (5-2). Tennessee’s 8 of 12 shots from came during the 2nd half, as they tried to rally back against Auburn and its lone goal.
The Auburn defense shined bright as goalie, Kate Hart, came up with 5 saves for the Tigers. The win was Hart’s second consecutive shutout game, totaling 5 on the season.
Locksley’s solo game proved to be the game winner as Auburn knocks #18 Tennessee with a score of 1-0. The Tigers look to remain undefeated in the SEC conference as they travel to Oxford, Mississippi to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. This game can be streamed live on SEC+ at 2:00.
